For those of you who missed the announcement (like me), the LiveMedia project is now open on OpenSolaris.org.
This project is all about running Solaris on CD, DVD, or a flash memory device. Currently, we've developed a prototype called "livekit" that uses a Solaris Express DVD or netinstall image to create a Live DVD ISO image that provides a bootable Solaris Express desktop environment. This prototype is based largely on the work that Moinak <http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/moinakg> has done to create the Belenix <http://www.genunix.org/distributions/belenix_site/belenix_home.html> Live CD distribution. <snip> OpenSolaris Live Media project now open | 08/21/2006 I'm pleased to announce that the Live Media project has at long last opened. If you're interested in building live CD/DVD versions of OpenSolaris, come join us. The project opening includes access to a prototype kit for constructing your own live DVD from a Solaris Express image.
