Hi Gilles Well well, nice surprise.
On Wednesday 21 November 2007, Gilles Gravier (Gilles Gravier <Gilles.Gravier at sun.com>) may have written: > Hi! > > Nevada and Indiana ... :) > [snip] > Big DVD for full install. Yeah, hmm, it was rather a pain. But I found it easier to reinstall than to upgrade. (OK, I'm mainly a Linux user but without fear of trying things out and hosing my own gear). > > Indiana is "distro" based on OpenSolaris. Slim and trim. One CD > installation. Network based package manager (a great change from Sun's > old pkgadd). You install just one CD (fast download, fast install), the > CD is actually a Live CD so you can boot and run it off the CD. This new package manager sounds cool. pkgadd was/is a drag compared to APT. I'll try this installer on said unfortunate laptop, at the risk of getting beaten up by the wife if she can't use it for a few days afterwards... ;-) > > I could come and do a short presentation of Indiana during next meeting > if people are interested. A presentation would be interesting, but oddly enough at the moment there seem to be only 2 takers for a meeting...
