Yes, it can be done. In fact, many (hundreds, thousands) of users can be logged
into the graphical desktop on a single Solaris system, all at the same time, 
running
either CDE or JDS (GNOME).  I was a user on a network with such a setup.

Your Xserver (the system you are connecting with) must support XDMCP broadcast;
Your Solaris Xclient (the server you want to connect to) will then send the 
dtlogin(1X)
screen to the Xserver on your system.

man dtlogin

is probably a good place to start digging.
