If you are interested in 3D (modeling/animation/rendering), you may have
noticed that on
http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/

there is Linux, Windows, MacOS, IRIX and Solaris/SPARC binaries, and a
Solaris/OpenSolaris for x86 is missing.

With the help of Robert, who was compiling it at the CHOSUG booth (OpenExpo
2009 Winterthur), you can now run it if you have build 123.

So, Robert have set up a new IPS reporitory:
http://ips.couchpotatofries.org/en/catalog.shtml

with a lot of compiled software

so, if you didn't add it yet to your repositories list, you can do a
pfexec pkg set-publisher -O http://ips.couchpotatofries.org couchpotatofries

and then install Blender 2.49 with
pfexec pkg install SFEblender

Thanks Robert !

Karim

P.S: blender is an OpenSource project, the application was used to
create/render the "Big Buck Bunny" movie
