Fellow Citizens:
Good evening .
According to the article below, the NRM is apparently talking about renewing
the so called protocol with the Sudan which will enable the UPDF to stay in
the Sudan for an extended period to fight KONY REBELS.
Let us point out certain facts.
Fact number one: UPDF performance against KONY rebels thus far, has been
dismal to say the least.
In spite of deploying over 30,000 UPDF troops in Northern Uganda/Southern
Sudan, in spite of opening up a new Army division in Pader district, Kony
rebels have been successful in conducting daring attacks against the UPDF in
Uganda (not Sudan).
Indeed many UPDF soldiers including top military officer have lost their
lives at the hands of the so called KONY REBELS in Northern Uganda.
Also The rebels (so the dictatorship in Kampala tells us) have time and time
again demonstrated that they are capable of conducting military raids against
refugee camps or ordinary acholi citizens in Uganda not in Sudan.
Can any intelligent mind out there please tell me in plain simple English as
to what exactly the UPDF is doing in Southern Sudan? Who exactly are the UPDF
fighting such that it takes almost one year (and now they are asking for more
time) to contain the so called KONY REBELS and yet the so called KONY REBELS
seem to be operating from deep inside Uganda?
The fact of the matter is, fellow citizens, Museveni and the NRM are sending
your sons and daughters to fight a non existing war in Southern Sudan.
Many of your sons and daughters are experiencing very harsh conditions in
Southern Sudan. Many die from the elements of nature then from fighting Kony.
We are talking Malaria typhoid fever, cholera (from drinking bad water)
meningitis e.t.c
I have got a briefings from top army officers within the UPDF who have stated
that their plight in Southern Sudan is unspeakable. Many simply cannot say
anything for fear of being court marshaled by the dictatorship.
To save their own skin, members of the UPDF must now pretend to Museveni and
Kazini that they are fighting KONY rebels in southern Sudan! .... and yet the
reality is that this UPDF soldiers are simply experiencing excruciating
misery and suffering in the Sudan.
and now Museveni wants to prolong the suffering of your sons and daughters.
He wants to deploy even more UPDF troops in Southern Sudan for and even
longer time period...to do what only God knows. I hear to fight Kony rebels .
Ugandans if you are not careful, by the time you people realize, Museveni
would have finished your sons and daughters in the so called war in the
north.
I have stated this out of concern. Don't say I did not warn your!!!!!!!!!

The UPDF military operations against the LRA in southern Sudan will go on
pending a new protocol being negotiated with the Khartoum government, the
army spokesman, Maj. Shaban Bantariza, said yesterday at the weekly press
briefing.
The Sudanese ambassador to Uganda, Yousuf Hamid Sirajuddin, said, "Uganda's
presence in the Sudan is illegal since the protocol expired on September 14.
Negotiations are going on to legalise and extend their stay,"
The envoy said renewal of the protocol took long because Sudan was waiting
for a formal request from Uganda. He said the new protocol will be out within
a few days.
Bantariza said Joseph Kony, the leader of the LRA, had not been able to sneak
out of Sudan.
On the situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, Bantariza said
some opportunistic armed groups had taken advantage of the departure of
foreign forces from the region to start destabilising areas on the border.
He said the UPDF had deployed in the area and was handling the situation
effectively.
Bantariza dismissed reports that the LRA was exchanging captives with arms.
He said this could have been so in the past, but was not the case presently.
The Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry, Prof. Edward Rugumayo, also
briefed journalists on government's efforts to ensure standards of Uganda's
exports.
Rugumayo said the Uganda Investment Authority, the Uganda Tourism Board and
the Export Promotions Board will merge into one company next financial year.
