On the other hand, if it is true that the the UPDF have miserably
failed to defeat both the LRA and ADF, would you think that the LRA and
ADF having defeated UPDF and are now seeing Entebbe State House through
their telescope, why would they want to talk peace now?
- Is bringing the govenment to peace jokes part of their political
agenda?
- If the ADF and LRA have a mile now, why settle for a yard?
- Does ADF or LRA think of rewarding the UPDF and resettle former
soldiers of the UPDF when their envisaged victory materializes?
Why then, must the UPDF reward such henious bizare groupings with a tax
payer's check?

LETTER TO THE EDITOR, MONITOR BY ADO TIBERONDWA
Does Ali care for war victims?
Ado TiberondwaThe press recently reported Deputy Prime Minister,
Brig. Moses Ali as having defended the use of military force instead of
negotiation to end the 16-year war in northern Uganda. The view of UPC
is that since Lt. Gen. Museveni and his government have miserably failed
to defeat Joseph Konys LRA and ADF, they should swallow their pride and
start serious peace talks, not only with LRA but also with other military
and political forces inside and outside Uganda. President Museveni
should not feel embarrassed about the military defeat he is experiencing
to the extent of hiding in Gulu Barracks. After all, he is not the first
or the last general to be militarily defeated. Is he going to pitch camp
in Bundibugyo or Kasese if the ADF war intensifies? Brig. Alis
statement depicts him as a heartless warmonger who does not care about
thousands of people who are being killed in the LRA/UPDF war. Negotiation
is cheaper in terms of human life and money. The! brigadier reminded me
that he served in Idi Amins regime, which never cared about human
life. Finally, I wish to propose that since LRA has displaced President
Museveni from State House, he should join other displaced peoples camps
in Gulu instead of camping in the barracks. He is a displaced person.
