I have stated before that African lives are second
class, and this can not change if we as Africans have also seen this tragedy and
called all Moslems killers. And I have seen it in these forums.
But here is another interesting twist on it. Can
you imagine if an African country was taking young girls, and I mean very young
ones some times in a middle of a stadium and use them as cheer leaders,
what would Washington post have written about African nations' treating of
women? It is just bizarre.
But hey they are very strange days we live
in.

Subject: [Mwananchi] Utter Insensitivity
& Miss World
The Miss World competition organizers must be the most
insensitive people in the world. You have more than 200 people dead in
Nigeria because of the event and they do not seem moved even a bit!
Instead, they will proceed with the rescheduled event in London.
A
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation commentator made the remark that if the
200 people had been from the Western world, the world press, pundits,
governments, etc, would be crying and mourning hard and calling for either
the suspension or cancellation of the pageant (sp).
In his
criticism of organizers, he attacked the cheapening of African lives in
the eyes of the global media and the insensitity to rleigious concerns of
many a people. He termed the organizers as self-absorbed and fixated on
their own.
A few days ago I commented that the pageant objectifies
women and trades in their flesh, perhaps not so different from what pimps
do with young women in the flesh trade.
