NEW LOOK: The palace which will be handed over to the Toro kingdom on December 30

By Emmanuel Mulondo
The reconstruction of the Toro kingdom palace destroyed in 1979 is in the final touches, kingdom officials have said.
Kingdom premier Steven Rwakijuma Nyabongo said on Saturday, the contractor would be handing over the building on December 30 at a brief function.
The official handover by the ambassador would come at a latter date, Nyabongo said.
The reconstruction has been funded by Libyan leader Col. Muamar El Gadaffi who undertook to rebuild the palace when he attended the July 2001 Empango (coronation) celebrations in Fortportal.
The December 30 function, Nyabongo, said would also involve the swearing in of the three regents and ministers appointed and confirmed during the last Orukurato (kingdom parliament) in July.
The regents include Makerere university don Prof. Oswald Ndolerire, Isaya Kalya and former deputy premier Mzee Zaverio Byabagambi.EndsEnds
