Don�t talk of Museveni succession, says minister

State minister for Local Government Dr. Philip Byaruhanga has urged Ugandans to stop discussing President Yoweri Museveni's succession.He said Museveni should be given time to fulfil his work plans.
Byaruhanga, also MP for Buruuli, was Sunday speaking at the first anniversary celebrations of Masindi-based Bunyoro Broadcasting Services (BBS) FM radio station.
�Let our people in the villages rest. We just voted last year and now you have again started talking of the President. It is stipulated that we are to go to polls every after five years, but here they are talking�" Byaruhanga charged.
Byaruhanga's comments contradict with his boss, Local Government Minister Bidandi Ssali who insists on debating the subject.
Museveni's second and last constitutional term expires in 2006.
Added Byaruhanga: "If you keep like that will you eat politics? This is a message to all Banyoro and Ugandans in general that we have the roads, health, education and lots more to do than politics."
He said the time for campaigns will come.
Byaruhanga said that Ugandans should wait to discuss the succession after the Constitutional Review Commission finalises its work.
Chief guest at the function was State Minister for Security Wilson Muruuli Mukasa who hailed BBS Managing Director Earnest Kiiza for creating development in his home area.
He urged broadcasters to act professionally.
"Broadcasting which focuses on correct facts whether palatable or not is what we want," he said.
