Fellow Citizens:

Sometimes I just marvel at the demands ...rather action of some of our fellow
citizens. Some are now busy demanding small little districts for their tribes
of say 30,000 or is it 100,000.

Of course over the years the NRM military dictatorship has granted
"districts" to a group of tribes who have demanded the some in a bid to
improve NRM image among the people of Uganda.

Nobody seems to sit down and think that most of this "districts" are in name
only! ... Yeap that is it.

A district with no resources to support it's self! ..and you see our fellow
citizens happy that they too now have "districts".

WE will most certainly get reed of this nonsense. ..that is if it is up to

Mbale district council is pushing for the creation of a new district.

District councillors told The Monitor recently that council wants Bubulo and
Manjiya counties to be merged and declared a district.

The Monitor has learnt that the ministry of Local Government wrote to the
district authorities asking for the name and location of the new district
headquarters.

The District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), George William Wopuwa
confirmed recently that the councillors are pushing for the new district.

"The council has been pushing for a new district. The permanent secretary
[Local Government] wrote asking for the name," he said.

The new district was mooted in Charles Walimbwa's time as district chairman.

Already councillors are divided over the name and location of the new
district headquarters.

Manjiya Councilors want Bududa Township to house the district headquarters
and the district called Bududa.

And Bubulo councillors want the headquarters to be in Bubulo County and the
district called Manafwa.
