2nd January 2003 RE: Old Boys & Stakeholders Convention The steering committee of �save the palm tree initiative�, in conjunction with the old boys association of St Peter�s College are organizing a half day convention for all persons with a stake and interest in the college to be held on Saturday 15th February 2003 at Hotel Africana, Kampala commencing at 2.00 p.m. This convention is a follow up of matters agreed on during an earlier meeting of the old boys held on the 14th of December 2002 at Fairway Hotel and will among others cover the following, i) Review the current state of affairs at the school including possible causes. ii) Examine the role other stakeholders and particularly old boys could play towards the rejuvenation of the school. iii) Put in place structures to converge the various goodwill initiatives embarked on by old boys spread all over the country. iv) Officially launch the College website & the �You can make a difference program� v) Commence arrangements for an open day visit to the school later in the year. The purpose of this correspondence is twofold a) To extend a formal invitation to you for this occasion. b) To request you to convey this message in a similar goodwill spirit to all well wishers of St Peter�s College and call upon all of them to embrace and support this initiative. Invitations to this meeting are also being extended to the ministry of Education, Civic, Political & Cultural leaders from eastern Uganda and the board, P.T.A and administration of the school. It is our hope that this meeting will serve to spark the urgent attention/interventions our college deserves and indeed help to channel all efforts towards the revival of this once very great school in eastern Uganda. Your physical presence during this meeting will therefore not only be inspiring to the initiative, but also go along way in actualizing its goals. We look forward to the 15th of February 2003.
