I find this article so revealing of the real rot that the post Mu7 government will have to contend with.

If custodians of knowlegde are themselves very dishonest what can one expect of their products.

Indeed there has been a fundamental change with Mu7 and his cohorts at the helm of the Ugandan ship.

Read on.

Thanks.

We aren't ready to re-sit exams
Guild Council, NTC Nkozi.
On behalf of the students body, we, the Guild Council of NTC Nkozi feel we should not re-sit the ITEK DEP exams this month for the following reasons:
*Not everyone cheated since there was strict supervision. Prior to any paper, thorough body checking was always carried out: Men were made to remove shoes and socks and ladies were checked in their bras, among others.
*If it's true that there was massive leakage of exams, which particular subjects and how did all the candidates from 10 colleges get access to them?
*It is ridiculous and incredible; the exams were done in January 2002 but the leakage was discovered late November when some candidates from other colleges had even graduated. (Those from Mubende NTC, where Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor Prof. Lutalo Bbosa presided over the graduation ceremony).
*We have been directed to pay a hefty sum to Kyambogo for re-sitting all the papers. Isn't this high class cheating?
*We were informed at the beginning that the duration of the course was two years but since December 1998 people are still struggling for just a diploma!
*If it's true that there was such massive cheating/leakage, have those in charge of preparing exams done anything to prevent such a scenario from re-occurring?
*It's alleged that exams were got from Kyambogo and reached all colleges countrywide; how comes that students under DEPE Programme from Kyambogo, who sat for the same in Kibuli, Wanyange, Busubizi PTC, etc were not affected by this decision.
*No official communication has been issued about the re-sitting of the exams. We are, therefore, worried about our friends working in remote areas who are not aware of this.
*Let the authorities forward the names of those who were implicated in examination malpractices to Kyambogo University for action instead of victimising everybody.
All in all, we are not ready at all to re-sit these exams.
