LETTER BY J. BWANIKA TO THE EDITOR, NEW VISION, 13/01/2003
Surely, how will Uganda develop? |
FOUR DECADES AGO: Obote being sworn in as Prime minister |
|
SIRThe Government is making great efforts to make Uganda a modern nation. Developed countries are all industrialised but consider the following:
how can Uganda industrialise with a society which has no basic research programme or proper infrastructural base?
How will Uganda ever develop her own resources when public funds are used to finance wars at home and in neighbouring countries?
How will Uganda develop when Kampala is Uganda?
How can Uganda develop when peoples representatives have become complacent about societys decisions because the state makes them feel good with mountains of money and huge salaries at tax payers expense?
what are the objectives of African government?
How can Uganda increase her majority civil society when the majority of her citizens still live a squalid lifestyle?
How can Uganda ever determine her destiny when individual and personal policies and desires take precedence over every other consideration?
How do you blame colonialism 40 years after Uganda attained independence?
How will Uganda develop when the opposition is only driven by power and not ideology or policy and when there is a stampede for State House?
