PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has said people who think they can dislodge his government by force of arms are mistaken.

Corrupt local government officials will also have no space if the President's proposal to amend the Constitution giving the Central Government more powers over local authorities goes through.

In a message to dissidents and their sponsors, Museveni who is also the Commander-In-Chief of the UPDF, told the press at State House Nakasero on Friday that he had fought for the last 30 years and would not tolerate anybody who tried to destabilise Uganda.

"Anybody who links up with local rogues, we shall fight. We are much stronger now. We have been fighting for the last 30 years. So if there is anyone who thinks he can fight and defeat Museveni 33 years later, he had better revisit his calculations," Museveni said.

He said the Lord's Resistance Army and the Allied Democratic Front were proxy rebel groups sponsored by neighbouring countries.

He compared fighting foreign-sponsored rebels to routing the couch grass (Lumbugu) from a garden.
