Ex-UPCs lash at reformists
By Muhereza Robert
Some renegade members of the Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) in Kabale have strongly criticised UPC and Reform Agenda for supporting Bugandas bid for a federal system of governance.Canon Godfery Musekura who recently crossed to the Movement told a press conference at his office in Kabale recently that if government grants Buganda federo, it stands to lose a lot in revenue and this will reflect badly on the development of the country.
"Government should handle federo the way UPC handled it in the late 1960s. Kampala is for us all and I see no reason why they should personalise it. The land they are claiming belongs to us all since it was created by God," he said. He said if Baganda want their land
they should take it away from Uganda.
He said the issue of federo may cause a lot of chaos in Uganda if not handled properly.
B. Odongo who headed the Research and Mobilisation department at the UPC Secretariat then, told The monitor in Kabale that Baganda should be denied federo because it shall create more divisions in the country and make leadership complicated.
"The reform Agenda and UPC merger in supporting Bugandas federo is aimed at distabilising the president of Uganda," he said.
