CHURCH VIGILS
There is growing interest in the press for project Strait Gate. Five TV stations recently reported on vigil in Phoenix. At times the press outnumbered the vigil team members! Last Sunday a local newspaper did a feature story about Strait Gate where only eight members were present for the vigil, you will see it next week. The reporter was surprised that of six churches he called where vigils been done only one pastor returned his call. This means the other pastors do not want the press to ask them where they stand on bombing Iraq. Team member's presence in front of any church challenges the pastor before his congregation. New volunteers are usually found at most churches. We hope you are getting your team ready for Vigil. You will find brief accounts of rallies in churches in London and New Zealand on our Strait Gate Site, (www.whtt.org/straitgate). We have many reports from all over the US and Canada from people who are serious about starting a Strait Gate Project in their town but who have not yet stepped out. You need only three to start a team; it will grow. Numbers are not that important, sound printed information is. Everything except your sign is available on our site, most of it is free. Some may be hesitating to see what will happen with the latest immanent war threat from Bush and Powell. Do not delay. No matter what happens in Iraq we must keep on in defense of the Palestinians who will be under terrible pressure if the bombing of Iraq commences. Remember, the bombing of Iraqi's will be a mirror image of destruction of the Palestinians. Ariel Sharon may well try to "transfer" the entire Palestinian population under the cover Bush's bombing. If Bush can annihilate Iraqi's with 2000 Cruse Missiles, why can't Sharon do the same in Gaza and The West Bank? We will add some new signs that reflect on the Palestinians, and we seek your suggestions. Some possibilities are: Israel First? Justice Second? Children Last! Or GAZA? WWJD? You can buy standard glue-on letters at most sign shops put them on something yellow or orange. We recommend 5, 7, or 8 inch, black letters on a 4 foot by 3.5 foot sheet, preferably yellow. His plan was to stay for two weeks to collect preliminary material for a documentary film on the Palestinian Intifada. It was during his stay that Ariel Sharon was elected as Israeli Prime Minister. As violence erupted around him, Longley threw away his return ticket and filmed for the next three months, acquiring nearly 75 hours of footage. Gaza Strip, his first feature documentary, is an extraordinary and painful journey into the lives of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip struggling with the day-to-day trials of the Israeli occupation. Filmed in verit� style and without narration, Gaza Strip at last gives voice to a population largely ignored by mainstream media. This film makes our own series, INSIDE THE GAZA STRIP, MARCH 2002, come to life. New Audiotape: America's Mercenary Military by Chris White with observations by C. E. Carlson and Dr. Michael Holland. Chris White is freelance writer about military affairs and a PHD candidate studying American History at Kansas University. He is, in his own words, an "X-Marine." His subject is all but unknown to Americans. Chris White has disavowed and rejected what the U.S. Marines tried to make of him in his four years just prior to the first Gulf War. His two interviews reflect his grasp of history and of the changes in our military in post- Vietnam era after the elimination of the draft. Mr. White tells us our military has been transformed from citizen-in-service army to a mercenary army of professional killer. He believes this is a danger to freedom in that today's Marines are conditioned to the point they would kill American citizens if told to do so. The author made several trips to the Holy Land with Celebrity Christian tours. She unravels Judeo-Christian mythology and the fruits of dispensationalism in an easy reading style. Mrs. Halsell was around the world journalist and adventurous war correspondent.
