Kigongo Warns Movt On Federo

STOP COMMENTS: Kigongo

By Richard Mutumba
THE Movement vice-chairman, Al-hajji Moses Kigongo, has cautioned movement leaders to refrain from airing personal opinions on federalism and other matters before the Constitutional Review Commission (CRC).

I have been compelled as chairman of the Movement national disciplinary committee to caution all movement leaders who are airing personal opinions on matters before the CRC, that are causing disharmony among our people, especially on the question of federo, to refrain from doing so, Kigongo said.

In a statement issued yesterday, Kigongo reminded all Movement leaders that Ugandans voted for the Movement system of governance because it respects the views of the people and involves people in decision-making.

He said the constitutional review process was a programme of the Movement government and all matters within its terms of reference were of concern to the movement and the people of Uganda.

Kigongo said respecting the views forwarded to the review commission by all Movement leaders should be a priority.

The Mengo establishment did not do anything wrong by going to advocate for federo through the CRC. Any leader who feels that he or she does not share the same views is free to write his or her opinions to the commission, he said.

Kigongo said hurling insults, intimidation and insinuations at Buganda by Movement leaders over federo should stop.

I find it greatly disappointing that some leaders in the Movement are engaged in uttering words that are causing disharmony and stirring unnecessary emotions of our people. The forum to discuss all matters presented before the CRC is there and in fact some of the Movement leaders belong to them, he said.

Kigongo urged Movement leaders to air their views in the right forum.

He said the Movement government had not taken any sides on any matter before the CRC since its work was still going on.

He said any views being aired out were personal and shou! ld not b e attributed to the Movement.
