U.S. President George W. Bush has invited President Paul Kagame of Rwanda for talks.
The invitation letter dated February 12 states that the meeting will be held on March 4 at the White House.
The letter says the talks will centre on common interest of the two countries, bilateral issues and the rebuilding of Rwanda that was devastated by the 1994 genocide.
The two presidents will also discuss strengthening of democracy in Rwanda, regional stability, trade development and combating HIV/AIDS.
Rwanda government Spokesman Joseph Bideri confirmed the invitation.
"Yes there is an invitation from the White House," Mr. Bideri said on phone from Rwanda yesterday.
Sources in Kigali said the talks would focus on the sour relationship between Rwanda and Uganda and how both countries should pull out of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The two countries have been in DRC since August 2, 1998 when they invaded the country to topple President Laurent Kabila (RIP).
