COL. Edison Muzoora, the UPDF officer who was reported missing, has been sighted in Kigali, Rwanda, sources there and in Kampala said yesterday.
Muzoora, formerly UPDF sector commander in Bunia, northeastern Congo, is said to have been staying in a hotel in Central Kigali.
He sneaked out of the country into Rwanda under unclear circumstances.
"He is here in a hotel. You can call and talk to him now. he is right there," a source who said he met Muzoora in the Kigali Hotel at the weekend said.
Muzoora also served as UPDF Infantry First Division commander at Mbuya in Kampala, before he was taken to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Rwanda government spokesman Joseph Bideri was not available for comment, while the ambassador, Christine Umutoni said she did not have any information on Muzoora from Kigali.
Foreign affairs minister James Wapakhabulo who is in Nairobi, Kenya said there is a mechanism in place to handle defectors.
He could not say whether Muzoora was in Rwanda.
The hotel where Muzoora was reportedly sighted is a favourite among tourists and wealthy Rwandese. Ends
