Hospitals in the country are in deplorable condition, Butebo County MP Stephen Malinga has said.
"The doctors in Mbale referral hospital don't have functioning laboratories, X-rays and use torches or flash lights to treat patients," Dr Malinga told journalists at Parliament yesterday.
Dr Malinga attributed the poor health services in hospitals to the low remuneration of doctors and nurses.
"The doctors in this country are well trained but because they lack equipment and get low wages, they lack morale to work. Health is important in this country. It should be given a priority in terms of funding," he said.
Dr Malinga said there are situations where nurses sell unscreened blood to clinics.
