"....since other tribes have settled in Busoga they should be assimilated into the Busoga culture and should pay allegiance to the Kyabazinga"

The very danger killing the Federalists idea, for they refused to separate them selves from the fuderalist, and as long as they stay that way, a very good idea has just been looted from our midst. There is a coffin of Federalism in Uganda. The politics of Uganda and the cultural institutions are both very independent entities and if you want one to survive you must allow the other to go by its self. Sounds simple? No for the people trying to make changes in our country are not critical thinkers. Lat us continue with the assimilation of all other tribes into cultural powerful ones. A word to note, Now the words of my friend Matekopoko come to mind, I think Museveni did the right thing for not allowing the Ankole kingdom back, for he as well would have been assimilated. No wonder he took the cheap Baganda who now must assimilate the Rwandese. Well come to Uganda politics 101.

MPs attack Busoga Charter
By Emma Mutaizibwa
Lawmakers on Thursday dismissed the Busoga Charter as unconstitutional.
"The Charter defies the Constitution when it compels everyone to pay allegiance to the Kyabazinga [Wako Muloki]," said Mr Martin Wandera (Workers) during a plenary session chaired by Speaker Edward Ssekandi.
"Considering that there are different ethnicities in Busoga, should we have our cultural heritage disrespected?" he said.
But some MPs immediately jumped to the defence of the Charter.
Mr Patrick Mwondha (Bukhooli North) said the Charter preserves the cultural and geographical entity of the Basoga and does not intend to antagonise other ethnicities.
Mr Tom Kayongo (Rubaga North) said since other tribes have settled in Busoga they should be assimilated into the Busoga culture and should pay allegiance to the Kyabazinga.
Mr Ssekandi ruled that the House cannot pass judgement on the legality of the Charter.
"If the Charter has contravened the Constitutio! n, any person can go to the courts of law," he said.
