States threatened Thursday to withhold money for a
new NATO headquarters and ban Americans from attending alliance meetings unless
Belgium changes a law under which Army
commander Tommy Franks was charged with war crimes.

US are
specialists of universal laws. They made one to sanction foreign companies
trading with Cuba. They have under AGOA a damaging
clause forcing African States do implement
US intellectual property and patent
principles, a daylight robbery. They twist the arm of many states on various
subjects, such as the World
Court.
They
are not in a good position to pressure
Belgium, at least on moral
grounds.
On the
other hand, who cares if NATO staff work in cramped offices? I even suggest that
Belgium in retaliation stop maintaining the
buildings. I would be curious to see the arrogant NATO executives shivering in
the cold Belgian winters. It would inject a dose of reality! And no Americans to
NATO meetings would sign the end of this useless and nefarious
organisation.
