Museveni to probe funds

President Yoweri Museveni yesterday said that he would name a
judicial commission to investigate corruption in the districts. Mr Museveni
was addressing a rally at Bukaya in Mukono.
He urged the people to report corrupt officials without fear or
favour.
�The police thought that they were next to God until the [Justice
Julie] Sebutinde commission was set up,� the president said.
He said that whoever has embezzled money in Mukono would have to
�vomit� it. He criticised Mukono district officials for not dismissing the
chief administrative officer [Mr Sam Kisense) as recommended by the IGG.
He compared the district to a climbing plant that dares a sharp
panga.
He was reacting to the district chairman, Godfrey Ddamulira
Kyeyune, who had complained about the central government�s decision to
withhold funding to Mukono because of the council�s failure to implement the
IGG�s recommendations.
�I advise you not to antagonise the central government by saying he
stole [former Electoral Commission Chairman Aziz] Kasujja�s money. It was
money to do work in Mukono,� the president said.
The president said that he was in Mukono not to fight corruption
but to teach people how to improve household incomes.
He said that although there was poor work on some schools his
government has scored and the challenge is on the local leaders and the family
heads.
