Robert Mugabe has been elected by Africans, and you can like this African decision or not, that is your right. But this is where I am getting a problem with your reasoning, you have told us how pathetic they sit and coconut heads and socialists, but you have not given us the educative solution.

George Ayittey, who should Africans have elected for the VP of AU?

President Mugabe elected AU vice chairman

From Innocent Gore in MAPUTO, Mozambique.

PRESIDENT Mugabe has been elected vice chairman of the African Union in
yet another show of confidence in Zimbabwe by Africa.

His election was endorsed on Thursday by African leaders during the
ongoing AU summit here soon after host President Mr Joaquim Chissano had
taken over as chairman of the 53-member Pan-African body from South
African President Mr Thabo Mbeki.

Cde Mugabe is one of the five vice chairmen of the AU who are elected
every year after the chairman has assumed his post to represent the
continents various regions.

He will represent Southern Africa.

EM,

Mugabe being selected as Vice Chairman of the AU? It is like the OAU
selecting Idi Amin as its Chairman in 1975!

Look at them gathered in Maputo. A hideous assortment of military
coconut-heads, Swiss bank socialists, crocodile democrats and briefcase
bandits. Now, it will take Africa 200 YEARS to attain minimum standards
of development.
