THE Reform Agenda (RA) is desperate to see their leader and former presidential aspirant Kiiza Besigye, currently in self-imposed exile return to Uganda.

“Unity is strength. He (Besigye) wants to be with the people of Uganda. We are not thinking of someone else in 2006 when we know he is around,” Louis Otika, RA’s deputy Secretary General told reporters yesterday.

Otika was addressing RA’s weekly press briefing at the pressure group’s headquarters in Kamwokya yesterday. He said they would want to see a safe return of Besigye if the Government does not have any complaint about him.

David Kanyerezi, the chairperson of the RA’s youth league said the group was set to launch an operation code-named, ‘Operation Return Besigye’ to ensure that the retired colonel returns.

“We want to talk to the Government. We want Government to either declare Besigye a wanted man or let him return safely. If he has committed offences, let processes be instituted through the Director of Public Prosecution so that a file is opened on him,” Kanyerezi said.

Besigye left after the March 2001 presidential elections.
