Netters :

The so called LURD (Liberians United For Reconstruction and Development) Liberian rebels now fighting to overthrow Charles Taylor's Monrovia regime, were trained by and did receive arms from the BRITISH Armed Forces now stationed as "peacekeepers" in Freetown,  Sierra Leone.  British  forces are the Real masterminds  behind  the Rebelion  and wars now going on in Monrovia.  This is a fact.

And now, as per the article below, the British are playing    dirty politics as usual;  Pretending that they are concerned about Liberians  ..and yet they are the very culprits   who are engaged in Clandestine ( under the table) moves to undermine Taylor Regime. !! Not that I really care about President Charles Taylor of Liberia and his Bloody regime ... especially after it was revealed that Taylor gave a Gold mine in Liberia to an American evangelist,Pat Robertson, to exploit at will .... While Liberians are suffering economic hardship.

Britain welcomes U.S. deployment off Liberia

LONDON, July 26 (Reuters) - Washington's closest ally, Britain, has praised the order to deploy U.S. troops off Liberia to back a planned West African peacekeeping force.

"A U.S. commitment is important, and shows the international community's willingness to engage with Africa in order to tackle conflict," Foreign Office Minister Baroness Symons said in a statement late on Friday.

Britain, which is involved in peacekeeping in neighbouring Sierra Leone, has for weeks been urging Washington to intervene in Liberia which American slaves founded in 1847.

U.S. President George W. Bush on Friday ordered American troops to take up positions off Liberia, where rebels and forces loyal to President Charles Taylor have been battling for more than a week to control the coastal capital Monrovia.

"I am pleased by President Bush's decision to position appropriate military capabilities off the coast of Liberia in order to support the deployment of an ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) force once it is generated," Symons added.

No date has been set for the U.S. deployment and American officials said warships with troops were seven to 10 days sailing time away. Diplomats in the region said they believed Nigerian peacekeepers would arrive by the end of next week.

Symons praised African nations seeking to resolve the Liberian crisis "for their unceasing efforts."

"The UK strongly supports a comprehensive negotiated peace process, leading to a ceasefire, transitional government and democratic elections," she added. "And I hope that all sides in the conflict will participate in that political process."
