Women Get Heifers from USAID

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has donated 19 hybrid heifers to Gulu Women Dairy Farmers' Association (GWDFA), to help improve their income through milk production, reports Dennis Ojwee.
The heifers were handed over to GWDAF at their offices in Pece sub-county by Gulu district vice chairman Paul Kerubino Ojok on Thursday.
The chairperson of the GWDFA, Margaret Odwar, thanked USAID for boosting their association by giving them more hybrid heifers that can produce over 15 litres of milk.
She said the association started humbly in 1993, but flourished two years later with 85 women and one man.
A group member told The New Vision that the pioneer members had received up to 300 heifers since the association was formed.
