Well if she was a Nabakyaala who believed into the system we have in Uganda,
and a Nabakyaala who loves a nation which has a system which takes care of
all the women in her nation. Nabakyaala would have got her baby in a Uganda
hospital. But to me as an out-sider, when I see that she can out of her
right mind go to London to have a Mumbejja of Buganda, I must ask what she
thinks about all Buganda women who give birth daily in Uganda infection
centres. And let me make my position very clear, Ugandans have been used
long enough, our people have been used as numbers and statistics, and many
of their problems have not been attended to. Nabakyaala was pregnant in
Uganda and she knew the situation that NRM had put into our hospitals, she
knew that the hospitals which were built by those very terrible governments
have been turned into infection centres, and she made a very sober decision
to disqualify all Uganda hospitals for the London Hospitals. She made a very
conscious decision, that our mothers, our sisters, our friends who get
babies in Uganda hospitals are people of a different standard than her. If
that is not true then Nabakyaala as a Nabakyaala who all Uganda women would
base their trust on, should have raised her voice as high as possible to
Uganda government to change the situation in our very terrible hospitals. If
the lives of Ugandan women, no let me re-state that, if the lives of Baganda
women were at heart of our Nabakyaala, she would have even sacrificed to
have that baby in a Uganda hospital.
But you see the story in Uganda is very different, the story is twarile
twatunga obwogyerero, and that is the constitution running Uganda today. It
is the same spirit which made Buganda accept the kingdom from NRM even if
Ankole did not get it, the same spirit where it does not matter if all
Northerners are dead as long Ffe twebaka. And Ugandans try very much to
protect who ever promises them to eat, or who gives them to eat. So the
question becomes, would Nabakyaala register her opposition to the situation
of Uganda hospitals to NRM when it is NRM which controls her bread and
butter? In the end all Baganda women become the victims, who cares whether
you get your baby in Mulago? If 10 kids survive in 100 that is okay.
They are continuing to be strange in-deed.
