Mw. Ssenyange:
Buganda's detractors are unlikely to be interested in facts since thier quest is to re-write history. However, a couple of references might be of help.
Henry Kyeyune & Apolo Nsibambi 1962 Buganda: Federal State of Uganda. H.H. The Kabaka's Government. Kampla, Uganda Bookshop.
This was a independence commemorative pamphlet. Other sources of interest include:
D. A. Low 1971 Buganda in Modern History
L.A. Fallers (Editor) 1964 The king's men: leadership and status in Buganda on the eve of independence. London : New York : Published on behalf of the East African Institute of Social Research, by Oxford University Press, 1964
Roland Oliver et al (Editors) History of East Africa, vols 1-3, (1963-1976)
etc
Incidentally, the date of Uganda's independence was also chosen to commemorate the passing of Ssekabaka Muteesa I, a fitting tribute to the man who invited missionaries to Buganda from where they spread to other part of what would later become Uganda. Missionaries were later followed by colonialists. The rest is history ...
