Netters, games and sports especially at international levels are usually
the best ambassodors that most countries use to garner support for whatever national programmes they want to promote.
In the 70's despite the excesses of the late Idi Amin(RIP) all the countries of the world came to know Uganda because of the achievements it made in the world of international sports. When the so called enlightened government of fundamental change came in,many,me
inclusive were duped into believing that indeed a fundamental change had
taken place.18 years on all we have on our report cards for this change is a Klepotocratic feudal system that goes even to the extent of making
the whole country know that their daughter had to be airlifted for the cost
of $90000 only to go and deliver her second baby at the expense of the
tax payer off whose sweats and toils they are busy increasing their numbers.
If Government could do that why should the National Football Association not be given $150000 to meet the needs and wants of a team of close to 50 people or Mu7 and his government wants to tell the
foolish Ugandans we all appear to be that Natasha and her second baby
are far more important that those 50 men and women who are going to
represent Uganda at this international sports meet?.
I think we have to come to our senses as a nation and put the Fraudstar Mu7 where he actually belongs.
Thank you.
Kipenji.

Fufa needs Shs150m

KAMPALA - The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa) require close to Shs150 m to have the senior team (Cranes) and junior side (Kobs) play their first preliminary home and away tie.

The Cranes face Mauritius on October 11 in Kampala in the 2006 Africa Nations Cup qualifier, while the Kobs take on Angola two weeks later in a 2004 Olympics qualifying tie. Fufa General Secretary Haruna Mawanda disclosed yesterday that they need Shs150m to cater for all these home and away ties.

The federation does not have funds, we are just begging, said Mawanda.

He added that they are also looking for funds to fly in professionals Ibrahim Sekajja and Suleiman Tenywa who ply their trade in Argentina and US respectively.

Meddie Nsubuga, also based in Argentina, has asked the federation to leave him out as he settles in with his new club.

Mawanda also said the Cranes International build-up against Harambee Stars of Kenya on Friday at Nakivubo is still in balance.

The trip is coordinated by the Ministry of Health as part of their campaign for immunization. The Ministry will provide the airtickets, he said.

Meanwhile at Namboole, where the Cranes are camped, the technical team is still puzzled by the whereabouts of top marksman Hassan Mubiru after his brief appearance on Sunday.

However the undisciplined player, who has always failed to go to camp early when summoned, featured for his Mamba clan against Kinyomo on Monday in the on-going Bika Bya baganda tournament.

Team manager Sam Kabugo told The Monitor yesterday that he has already informed Fufa about Mubirus absence. Its now up to Fufa to take action, Kabugo said. Head coach Leo Adraa was equally disappointed by Mubirus attitude.

Mr Henry Buyego, the Cranes coordinator said Fufa has already sent a letter to Mubirus Club Express FC which explains that incase their players dont appear, they will get a six month ban.

But Ibrahim Kiryowa, Express FCs assistant secretary said they have not received such a letter. Express club is not aware that Mubiru is not in the camp, Daudi Kasujja, an official of the club said, sounding surprised, adding I have just talked to him now (lunch time) and he told me that he was on his way to the camp.

The Monitor could not get a word from Express boss Mr Godfrey Kirumira, as he could not pick his cellphone.

Some of the players in camp:
Ibrahim Mugisha
Hannington Kalyesubula
Postnet Omwony
Robert Kabanda
Emmanuel Balyejjusa
Aussie Kaaya
Hood Kaweesa
David Obua
Geofrey Sserunkuma
Abubaker Tabula
Sam Mubiru
Philip Obwiny
Godfrey Kateregga.
