Anti-government elements are holding secret meetings in some parts of Kasese district amid reports that the Allied Democratic forces (ADF) remnants are regrouping in eastern DR Congo.

The National Political Commissar (NPC) and minister without portfolio, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, said this on Saturday at Bwera Secondary School in Kasese district.

"We have reports that anti-government elements travel by bus to Kasese to hold secret night meetings. And you should be aware that remnants of the ADF rebels are regrouping in eastern Congo planning to attack the country again," Kiyonga said.

He was officiating at the launch of the Sustainable Agriculture Movement in Bukonzo West.

The project worth over sh120m is funded by Netherlands-based NGO, the HIVOS, and implemented by a partnership association of community-based civil society organisations in the sub-counties of Kitholhu, Karambi, Ihandiro, Bwera and Nyakiyumbu.

The NPC warned the people behind the meetings, saying they should stop before they were caught and prosecuted.

He called upon residents to report suspicious people and activities to the security organisations.
