IT'S a bronze medal Boniface Kiprop will remember for long. The 18-year-old won his first senior level medal by stopping another Ethiopian 1-2-3 at the Afro Asian Games yesterday.
Kiprop, who is part of the African team that swept the board, clocked 28:12.67 to finish third in the 10000m event won by All Africa Game gold medallist Sileshe Sihene. Kiprop finished fourth in the event at Abuja 2003.
Another Ugandan star Dorcus Inzikuru also settled for bronze in an event she won silver at Abuja 2003. Her medal saw Uganda boost Africa's tally with three bronze medals - boxer Joseph Lubega having got one earlier.
Weightlifter Irene Ajambo finished fifth overall. Gold went to China's Cao Lei who lifted a total 240kg.
