Forget free, fair poll under NRM

Allow me to respond to Third Term Questions, Where Are The Answers (January 3) where you quoted MP Michael Mabikke as having said that he is willing to campaign against the âthird termâ if it is put to a referendum.

I wonder if Mabikke still remembers the 1996 and 2001 elections as well as the 2000 referendum in which, I am sure, he actively took part. Where does Mabikke get the sense that any election (including a referendum) organised under the Museveni regime can ever be free and fair?

If the âthird termâ question is put to a referendum, our fighting tooth and nail will not change the âconcoctedâ results, and President Museveni will not fail to win by 90 percent in the so-called âinterest of the peopleâ.

So I request the good honourable MP to think again.

You make a valid observation...the question is:  can other Ugandans reach such an independent conclusion after observing  NRM/Museveni's MO during the past 18 years?
