Movt vision to sell third term
Not so long ago, the President claimed that no one had an alternative vision to his for Uganda. 'Vision' has now became a constant in every discussion in the media or think tank by the plethora of sycophants surrounding the establishment.
One would think that it is a new word. Visions of different interest groups are, ideally, supposed to be in their manifestos, mission statements or programmes. The NRM's original mission is contained in the Ten Point Programme, which few in the establishment want to talk about today.
One of the main points in the Ten Point Programme was the creation of "...an independent, integrated economy with forward and backward linkages..." Very noble ideal, if you ask me. But the current vision of the Movement is to orchestrate high obscurantism and hurl invectives at all opposed to the third term.
If the President is genuine in his quest to learn of the vision of other stakeholders, he must allow Article 29 of the Constitution to be effective. People should be allowed to associate and exchange opinions without undue harassment from terrorists disguised as state agents.
People must be allowed to gather at malwa pots, at the city square without fear of undue harassment from a paranoid establishment. Mr President, as you invited us to dance our vision, untie our feet and we shall join you in the arena.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."
- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
