Treating uterine fibroids with herbal products
This could be coming from any of the over 70 per cent of women in the reproductive bracket. Fibroids are blood filled tissue growths in the uterus lining and walls. The tumours are sometimes referred to as false babies.
In most cases, fibroids do not cause symptoms and may not require treatment unless they are large enough to cause pressure on other organs such as the bladder or are causing abnormal bleeding problems with infertility or are growing rapidly.
The cause of this growth range from heredity to stress, though a womans diet may also contribute. Fibroids can be classified by their location in the uterus. Fibroids that are inside the cavity of the uterus will usually cause bleeding between the periods and often cause severe cramping.
Most women dont even know they have fibroids until their physician feels them during routine pelvic examination, but the examiner may sometimes miss to identify the presence of fibroids, while other conditions, such as menstrual complications or ovarian cysts, may be mistaken for fibroids.
It is important to have a vaginal ultrasound examination, which provides valuable information to the examiner. Sometimes uterus scans provide excellent pictures for the examiner to plan treatment.
In majority of fibroids sufferers, fibroids grow as a woman gets older and tend to shrink after menopause.
It is obvious that fibroids that cause significant symptoms need treatment and it is often easier to treat small fibroids than larger ones.
Some of the discomforts associated with fibroids are abdominal and lower back pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, frequent urination and sometimes constipation.
Although most physicians go for uterus removal as the only option for fibroids, recent studies show that this is not always necessary. There are a number of other procedures recently identified for treatment of fibroids.
Fibroids still remain the number one reason for removal of the uterus. However some herbs have proved effective in suppressing the growth of fibroids. They also help to balance the blood circulation.
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) has been in use for centuries in fibroids treatment. It acts by reducing the growth of fibroids and regulating menstrual flow in women.
Half a litre of boiling water is poured over a heaped teaspoonful of yarrow herbs, infused for five minutes, then one can take a glass of the preparation three time a day.
Yarrow has proved to be more effective when combined with other herbs like wood sorrel (Oxalis acetosella) and shepherds purse (Capsella bursapastoris).
Adopting a different lifestyle also contributes highly in fibroids management. This entails elimination of red meat, dairy products, saturated fats, and fried food and caffeine from the diet. Other ways of managing fibroids includes maintaining healthy weight and size, reducing anxiety and stress and avoiding toxic environment.
