Kampala Heavily armed Pian Karimojong pastoralists have entered the north western parts of Sironko district with more than 600 head of cattle."I personally counted 102 guns with the pastoralists," said 2nd Lt. Geoffrey Dada of the army anti-stock theft unit detachment at Bunambutye sub-county headquarters.

Dada recently said the pastoralists had large quantities of bullets that they freely carried around as they grazed and watered their cattle in the swampy areas of Kata, Sironko. He said he visited the border areas of Kata to assess the security threats posed by the warriors.

He said the pastoralists had earlier sent him a letter in which they wanted their presence known by the relevant authorities. He said the pastoralists were eager to trade with the people of Sironko."Their interest is for Sironko district administration to open a market where they can sell their cows and buy food," Dada said.

Sironko LC5 chairman Francis Nagimesi had earlier rejected a request by the pastoralists to graze in any part of the district, saying they steal cattle and rape women and children.Dada said the pastoralists promised not to repeat their past mistakes.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
