Uganda economy not what we hear
Refer to Who Are Our Heroes Today (The Monitor, February 6). Close to 50 percent of the Ugandan population today are below 25 years old. That means they actually don't know any other Ugandan leaders very well, if at all. If President Museveni received 44 percent in the opinion poll, then you might as well divide that by two, giving him 22 percent.
One thing that I don't understand is the credit the President gets about the state of Ugandan economy. I guess I am in the wrong place. If our economy is that good, why are we still among the biggest recipients of donor funds? The truth is, the Ugandan economy is not exactly what we are told.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."
