I assume, in this situation,  Museveni's AMUKA  Battalion did PUT up a gallant fight with the rebels.  Or  there were some UPDF "weakness"  for which theUPDF army  commanders stand to be blamed.  Or better yet , in this case, no massacre took place . such would be Museveni's arguments.

LIRA: AT LEAST TEN DEAD IN REBEL ATTACK
General,ÂBrief

A report arrived yesterday from MISNA sources of another attack by the rebels of the LRA (lordâs Resistance Army) in North Uganda. During the night between Saturday and Sunday the rebels attacked a small village called Ojul, in the zone of Abako, 35km east of Lira, capital of the homonymous northern Ugandan district. At least 10 people were killed in the attack, while 4 were hospitalised in critical conditions in Lira, as confirmed by hospital administration sources. The toll is however still preliminary, given that an unconfirmed number of villagers are still missing. Just a few days ago the rebels attacked the Abia displaced camp, killing 51 people and injuring over 70. Since 1986 the rebels, headed by the crazy visionary Joseph Kony, have been devastating the northern Ugandan districts; according to local sources, in 17 years of terror they have tortured and killed tens of thousands of people (at least 100-thousand dead), abducted over 25-thousand children (reduced to slavery or forcedly enrolled in the rebel lines) and displaced over 1 million.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
