SEVEN passengers sustained various injuries (not bullets) fleeing from an ambush by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels at Corner Lakwaya, on the Gulu-Moroto Road in Omoro, Gulu district, reports Denis Ojwee.Local security and civilian sources told The New Vision on Thursday that the vehicle was heading to Acek market from Gulu.

Sources said the passengers were hurt when they jumped from their car and sought refuge in the bush..

The chairman of Lalogi sub-county, Santo Okello, said some of the victims had sneaked into Lalogi camp for the internally displaced and could not be immediately identified. In an unrelated incident, two Local Defence Unit personnel were killed early this week in two separate ambushes by LRA in Lalogi. They were part of a foot-patrol team from Gulu.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
