By Milton Olupot
THE Prince Kimbugwe Foundation has given 300 bursaries to girls from the war-torn sub-regions of Acholi, Lango and Teso.
Prince Edward Kimbugwe recently announced the funding at a meeting of women Members of Parliament for the northern districts.
As a royal family we want to express solidarity with you at this difficult time, Kimbugwe said.
He said sh140m is earmarked for the bursaries, which will benefit girls from primary one to senior six level.
Under the programme parents will meet 30% of the education costs while the foundation meets 70%.
He said the foundation is funded by NGOs from Germany, Austria and America, and has 26,000 beneficiaries.
The MPs expressed gratitude to the Buganda royal family, saying the gesture signalled unity among the different regions in the country.
