CARDINAL SODANO EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER CRISES IN HAITI, CONGO AND UGANDA
Church/Religious Affairs,ÂBrief

âWe are extremely worried about the situation in Haiti,â said Cardinal Angelo Sodano, Vatican Secretary of State, on the sidelines of a conference in Rome on Thursday. Referring to the role of the United Nations in current global geopolitics, the cardinal observed: âWe hope that it will have a greater role, even though we understandâ that the current situation âis the _expression_ of the tools made available by the 191 states that constitute it. We are encouraging a greater role for the UN in the Middle East and in the tragedy of Africa, which has resurfaced with the most recent events in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Uganda.â[LC]

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
