Denounce the war and government

I read with horror the BBC WebsiteÂs report about the massacre of more than 190 innocent civilians in Uganda. This is the greatest crime not only committed by the LRA rebels, but also by the Ugandan government. Much as the rebels may be âbanditsâ and âcriminalsâ, the government is also to blame for its failure to protect and safeguard its citizens.

One wonders how more than 4000 encamped vulnerable civilians are left for the protection of only a handful of militiamen! IsnÂt this a betrayal on the part of our so called army? How come we managed to invade Congo with so many troops and now we leave our own people to perish like insects? It is very difficult, due to human nature, to accept defeat.

But I think with Kony, the government is defeated. Here I call upon our president, who seems to be the only bull in the kraal, to stop minimizing Kony, at least for the sake of our suffering brothers and sisters.

Why donÂt we accept international assistance to eradicate this myth of Kony once and for all? At times, against my will am forced to believe what I hear that the northern Uganda has turned into âgreener pasturesâ for some.

Fellow Ugandans, let us unite with our suffering brothers and sisters in the north and unanimously denounce the war, together with the Government, which has failed to protect the lives of its people.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the state."

- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels - Hitler's propaganda minister
