This UPE boondgle gets hungrier by the day, or so it seems.  Govt Pushes For UPE Lunch

THE state minister for primary education, Namirembe Bitamazire, has said the Government will issue measures to ensure that parents provide lunch for their Universal Primary Education(UPE) school-going children, writes Nicholas Kajoba.   �We want to see that parents provide lunch for their children,� she said. Bitamazire said this while inspecting schools run by Lugazi Catholic Diocese on Friday. She challenged local leaders to support government programmes such as UPE. Bitamazire (pictured) said UPE had not been successful in districts in Buganda and other areas. �Some parents especially in Buganda region have failed to provide lunch for their children. I advise you to ensure that these children get lunch,� she said. Bitamazire commended the Catholic Church for supplementing the Government�s efforts in the education sector. �Local councils at all levels have not put much emphasis on monitoring and implementing government programmes in their areas.
