I do not believe that Yoweri Museveni's NRM military dictatorship is serious, when it says that now the regime is willing to hold "peace Talks" with the so called Rebels.
In his recent address to the nation, and a letter to the New Vision ( posted by Kabonero ) Museveni continues to brag about the military success which he belives his UPDF troops scored against the rebels. Kaguta stated taht his troops will continue to hunt and KILL the rebels....now this are not the action of someone who is seriously seeking a peacful avenue to address our nation's problem. All I can say is that our nation shoucl embrace it's self for more wars.1,2, 10 years from now...until of course the war monger is removed by any means neccessary!! Matek Uganda offers ceasefire to rebels The Lord's Resistance Army regularly abducts children Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said he would order a ceasefire to Lord Resistance Army rebels if they are willing to hold peace talks. Mr Museveni has however asked the rebels to end their terror campaign and warned that those who reject the peace offer will be hunted down. The LRA has been waging a brutal 17-year war in northern Uganda, killing thousands of people. Joseph Kony's LRA recruits troops by kidnapping children and arming them. Correspondents say more than one million people have been driven out of their homes as a result of the war in Northern Uganda. Military intervention The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned what it called the appalling atrocities committed by LRA fighters . In a statement on Wednesday, the Security Council expressed particular concern over the large-scale displacement of the civilian population and the abduction of children for use as child soldiers. A recent interview with the LRA's elusive leader in a Sudanese publication suggested he was opposed to talks. Last week the UK's international development secretary Hilary Benn held talks with Mr Museveni and reportedly urged him to recognise that the problem could not be solved by military means . -------------------------------------------- This service is hosted on the Infocom network http://www.infocom.co.ug
