What the good professor is ranting about has got nothing to with
international recognition.
This all boils down to the politics of gastronomy that has preoccupied
the Professor ever since his elevation to that deceptive No.2 spot in the
NRM government.
He has to shout louder than the real power brokers so that his position
is left to him for as long as they are still squeezing some juice out of him.
Remember the statement Mu7 made during the 1980 elections campaign when asked why he continued to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the ruling military Commission and yet he appears to be at odds with them??
Through out the NRM rule that is what he has actually made of these neopolitical invertebrates who appear to be suffering the burdens of severe intellectual sclerosis.
Professor Bukenya follows the lines of many professors before him,the likes of Tarsis Kabwegyere,Mondo Kagonyera,George Barnabas Kirya,and the often quoted professor turned Justice of the Supreme Court Professor er--er what is his name again,that all of us know.
They all epitomize what Ugandan made Professors stand for i.e only oppose because your gastronomic needs are not catered for otherwise
cheerlead!.
That is the intellectual impoverishment that the Ugandan academics have degenerated into.

happened to the President, and he as the vice-president had to take over as is
provided for in the contitution, the country would come to a standstill?

President Yoweri Museveni should be given a third term because he is
transforming Uganda, attracting investors and creating stability, said the Vice-
President, Gilbert Bukenya, in an interview with Sunday Vision on Thursday.
�Things are running smoothly. And that is why I cry out and say leave Museveni.
Give him another five years so that we can develop the country,� he said.
He appealed to Ugandans to exploit Museveni�s leadership for transformation to
be achieved. According to him it would be illogical for Museveni to go at this
critical moment when he is attracting investors to Uganda.
Museveni is serving his second and last term. He can only be eligible for a
third if the Constitution is amended.
Bukenya said he would need five years to get to Museveni�s level of global
recognition. On whether he would offer himself for election if Museveni did not
stand he said, �If Museveni does not stand then the Movement will choose the
best available alternative.�
