Frank: I would not worry about the UPC. WE have political strategist who have pretty much mapped out, so to say, Museveni's NRM moves....
June 3, 2004 Parties should lay strategies The alleged State House masterminded rumour about Dr. Ssemogerere's secret meetings with President Museveni leading to a sell out of his party are just a beginning. (See: Fresh row in DP? The Monitor, May 30). The Democratic Party and indeed other political parties in Uganda must be prepared for such machinations brewed from State House and the Movement Secretariat. We all know that the President's office is flooded with young men and women whose job detail could include disorganisation of the opposition using all possible means. In light of the above, unless the DP and other political parties' leadership stand together and lay strategies to counter such machinations, the parties will be defeated. My view is that when such rumours crop up, members should not cry out like Hon. Mabikke is alleged to have done. Such people should instead call for a meeting to discuss these issues. The political parties are better off strengthening their research departments to collect as much information as possible about the political maneuvers of the Movement.
