Subject: ugnet_: "Kony" order juniors to massacre Acholi
Date: Thu, 03 Jun 2004 13:23:55 -0400

Fellow citizens:
NRM propaganda has now reached unpreccidented proportion. Why would "kony" rebels order the massacre of the acholi? Isn't the UPDF and Yoweri Museveni's dictatorship playing tricks here with the notion..the idea that "kony" intendes to masscare the acholi..and yet all all the Museveni Dictatorship has already put in gear to massacre en-mass the acholi. I find this NRM move to massacre the achoili totally nausiating to say the least.

GULU district chairman Lt. Col. Walter Ochora has said the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebel leader Joseph Kony has ordered the killing of all Acholi.

Ochora said Kony's deputy Vincent Otti rings him frequently to tell him that the LRA are ready to implement the order.

He said Otti rang him after the attack on Pagak internally displaced people's (IDPs) camp that he commanded and told him that they had started their work.

"Otti himself commanded the attack on Pagak and he hit the hut of the camp leader with an RPG gun.

He later rang the camp leader to confirm if at all he had killed him but fortunately the camp leader was in town," he said.

Ochora was speaking at a security mobilisation at Labworomor and Owalo IDP camps all in Palaro sub-county recently.

He said in the last one month the LRA had killed over 130 civilians in three IDP camps in Gulu district alone.

State minister for northern Uganda Grace Akello urged war veterans and the youths to join Local Defence Units (LDUs) to protect the IDPs.

"I was hurt when I heard that Gulu leaders and the elders did not want to mobilise their people to join LDU," she said.

The UPDF 39th Battalion commander, Capt. Anthony Kinene appealed to the IDPs to help the army in identifying rebels who at times live in the camps.
