UGANDA 3/6/2004 21:37 NORTH UGANDAN DISPLACED CAMP IN FLAMES General, Brief
The rebels of the LRA (lords Resistance Army) this afternoon attacked the displaced camp of Talabong, 5km north of Namokora, 60km east of Kitgum, in North Uganda. MISNA sources and testimonies of people fleeing the camp, which hosts some 2-thousand displaced, referred of high flames even visible from Namokora. There are no confirmations so far on eventual victims or injuries, though the intensity of the flames arises serious concerns for the safety of the displaced of Talabong. Security of the inhabited zones of the area was delegated by the military to a sort of civilian militias, made up prevalently by minors.
