End northern war, urges the Nabagereka
THE Nabagereka of Buganda, Lady Sylvia Nagginda, has called for the
immediate end of the war in the north to stop the suffering of children and
the population, reports Joe Nam.
My plea and prayer is that this
war will come to an end very soon in order to save the lives of our people.
The children in conflict areas in northern and eastern Uganda live under
constant fear of abduction or being killed, she said.
Nagginda was
speaking at a dinner in honour of the president of the Christian Childrens
Fund, Dr John Schultz, at Grand Imperial Hotel recently.
She called upon
communities to help children who are suffering from neglect, abuse,
malnutrition and those faced with struggles, which put their lives at risk.
Schultz urged Ugandan families with means, to sponsor at least one needy
child each.
