Museveni can stand again, says Shalita

By Kyomuhendo Muhanga
PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni (right) is free to contest for a third term should he wish to, the retired bishop of Muhabura diocese in Kisoro, Ernest Shalita, has said.
I see no reason or any law that can stop Museveni from contesting. Even if he had ruled for ages, under the multiparty rule he is free to contest. The movement he headed will be no more once the country goes multiparty, he said.
He said those opposed to another term for president Museveni should say no to the multiparty system.
Even UPC is free to bring back Obote if it thought he was the right man to head their party in the general elections, Shalita said during an interview at his home in Kisoro town recently.
He said the constitution gave people power to express their will and consent on who should govern them.
